It's in particular the object of the different album covers. The three meters high model and all its accessories (consisting of boats, planes, submarines, and pirate galleon) were shot from different angles in a 50.000 litre circular water tank to promote the album. It was designed by Jamie Hewlett and Zombie Flesh Eaters, and then built by Asylum FX. To Binge is amazing, and an absolute gem of a track in Gorillaz’s catalogue. It’s a very pretty-sounding song about a very grim topic, which causes it to sneak up on you during the first listen. The Plastic Beach model is a physical representation of the island. This track goes in on the inner-mechanisms behind substance abuse, all set to the angelic voices of Yukimi and 2D.
